Chlorophyll is the green pigment in plants that captures the energy provided by the sun through the process of photosynthesis. Chlorophyll is to plants what blood is to humans. It performs metabolic functions such as respiration and growth. The chlorophyll molecule is similar to human blood, except that its central atom is magnesium and not iron as in human blood. Alfalfa, the source of Nature's Sunshine chlorophyll rich in magnesium, is an excellent source of chlorophyll.
